Molds are heavy goods and need to be stored using mold shelves. Mold shelves come in several types, such as drawer-type mold racks, beam-type mold racks, and intelligent vertical storage racks for molds. Which type of rack should be used for storing molds in an 8-meter-high warehouse? The custom warehouse shelving manufacturer explains.

For storing molds in an 8-meter net height, the first choice is the beam-type heavy-duty rack. Automated vertical storage is an upgrade option, while traditional drawer-type mold racks are not suitable for high positions. Molds are usually placed on pallets or workholding bases and are retrieved and stored by forklifts. The beam-type structure has no obstructions within the layers and has the strongest versatility. The single-layer load-bearing capacity can be increased to 3-5 tons or even higher as needed. For most stamping and injection mold warehouses, this solution achieves the most direct balance in terms of carrying capacity, space utilization, and investment cost.

If there are higher requirements for storage volume and efficiency, then intelligent vertical storage racks for molds should be used for storage. It uses stacker racks and software and systems to achieve automated cargo retrieval. The total height can be designed to be over 20 meters. However, the cost of automated storage racks is much higher than that of ordinary warehouse shelves. Therefore, in cases where the budget is limited, using beam-type racks in an 8-meter-high warehouse is the best choice for storing molds.
